D. VERIFYING REALITY
AND THEN USING IT FOR YOUR BENEFIT



This is one of the parts of the process of re-forming beliefs and actions as in ABCDEF Analysis Super-Form.

In order to be able to run a scientific process of problem solving, we first need to tie down the facts and define what actually occurred. 

In A. What Happened, in the process called ABCDEF Analysis Super-Form, we put in our first version of what we think happened, trying to be objective and sticking only to what is observable, without adding anything. 


THE "CAMERA CHECK" OF WHAT HAPPENED

In this part D. of the process, we are doing a camera check: Did we actually take an objective picture of only observable facts or did we add or distort something, miss something, or misperceive it. 

As part of the directions on the Super-Form, we include: 

Correct what is actually not factual.


NO "CUTESY" OR INEXACT ATTRIBUTIONS

For example:  expressions, such as "in my gut" (instead, say “I thought…”, “I felt in my body…” followed by a sensation, not a thought), or “it made feel” (as if it was a mysterious force acting upon you, instead of you thinking something and that thought creating the feeling) or “a part of me..” [‘my inner child’..] (as there is no such thing in existence) . 

A distinction many people fail to make is that they cannot have a "feeling" that is actually a thought that just popped up, which they "make-up" is from their "gut" or "a part of me" (maybe their liver?).  Often it is "from the heart", squeezed out in a bloody truth somehow, as if the heart can actually think beyond mechanistic simplicity.  These are all metaphors, not facts!  (However, some of them can be useful in Metaprograms.)

In this segment, people will often resist the process, justifying it with "well, that's just the way it occurs to me".   OK, well, we are sympathetic/empathetic to that comforting idea, but what we are doing in this process is trying to achieve a result, instead of just being vague and indistinct.  We must have precision, not obliqueness or generalities.


A FEELING IS NOT A THOUGHT, AND VICE VERSA

A feeling/emotion is a biochemicalelectro occurrence in the body while a thought is a collection of bits of data.  They are seperate.  And the thought (whether conscious or not) creates the feeling.  (Of course, we often have thoughts about our feelings, where we resist or "comment" on the feeling.  But they only occur in sequence, not all in one lump.)
