UTILITY AND COPING THOUGHTS DEFINED

Utility Thoughts - Are thoughts that generalize about life which are brought into mind readily and frequently when things happen.  They can be disempowering (identify yours) or empowering.  We recommend you use the empowering ones. (Duh!)

Note that the mind will let in whatever is most available.  This means that you simply must (that there is no other option) do whatever it takes to make your empowering thoughts available.  That is through repetition and memorizing and/or doing the equivalent, such as having it available in writing (a form of "memorey, in a sense) in a convenient, accessible place, such as your Reminders Notebook.

Coping Thoughts - Utility thoughts that can be brought in to better cope with a situation or feeling.  Such thoughts will be from one's "higher brain" and will either help one to return to using the higher brain or will do some calming function or some redirecting function.

WHAT TO DO

The intention of this section is to bring together the coping thoughts that are spread out throughout the site dealing with different circumstances, issues, etc.  It is up to you, of course, to select what works for you.

As with any affirmation, declaration, mantra, or statement, you will most likely be able to memorize only a few.  This means you need to sift through the coping statements to find those that work the best and are the broadest and most applicable to most situations.

Note that you can also use affirmations, mantras, sayings, and declarations as coping statements.  You can remind yourself of "truths" and principles, such as the principles of life.

For a more detailed discussion, read the write-up summary:  Utility (Coping) Thoughts.

THE SUPPLY

Overall

See Resources For Empowering Conversations, with website links.

From other sections, gradually being compiled:

Using The Higher Brain As It Should Be Used - Lots of coping thoughts to get one back to fully operation of the higher brain and/or to calm the mind, to feel better, and to be more effective.  (Note that this is an effectiveness principle, so it is under the life management section, Power In Life.)

Accepting Reality

From The Realities Of Life:   An example, though you may modify it, would be "I accept reality.  I simply move on and create what I want" and/or "I am powerful.  Circumstances do not rule me.  I simply deal with them and make happen what I want."
