WARREN BUFFETT
A MAN OF GREAT WISDOM, NOT JUST A SUPER INVESTOR
Judged by my colleagues in the financial advising field to be the best investor of the 20th century, Warren Buffett is also a man who has reflected on life and culled from it much wisdom that is worth heeding.
EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN - AND FOR ADULTS?
“The best investment you can make, is an investment in yourself.” “The more you learn, the more you’ll earn.” “Learn from your mistakes, and the mistakes of others.” “Great partnerships make any job easier.” “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” “With business as in life, get to know people before you judge them.” “It’s not just the outside that counts, it’s the whole package."
These are quotes from a "cartoon" series called The Secret Millionaires Club, which is available on DVD - it's to give perspective to kids, but I suspect it will be worthwhile for adults to watch. A link (which might be broken at some point) about an interview with him is: Money 101: Q & A With Warren Buffett. The site: smckids.com (have patience on the loading). You can watch the 26 short "webisodes" on the site or purchase Secret Millionaire's Club: Volume 1 (dvd $12.99).
ON INHERITANCES
"You should leave your children enough money so they can do anything but not so much that they can do nothing." (This was part of the wisdom included in using the following strategy: The Financial Incentive Trust.)
ON INVESTING
A word of caution to consider: It might not be wise to try to learn to be a diligent hands-on investor, as it probably won't be fruitful and it is most often a distraction from doing what is most beneficial in life. Read my comments and recommended action: Investing - Wisdom And Reasoning.
