MUST CLEAR THE SPACE FIRST

You can't create a new future with the past occupying your life.   You must clear out the space in order to insert the new future, otherwise you are "doing it the hard way" and are much less likely to make progress with all those barriers hanging on.  See Completing The Past.   As reinforcement, another way of explaining this is on Landmark Education's site, under See It In Action, lower left picture.

Looking at the past to give you ideas as to what you can create anew is, of course, a very valuable process.

One cannot create much of a new future when one has erroneous, untrue beliefs (which are part of your past).  How can one tell if one still has untrue beliefs?  By looking at the effects one is getting, as they are an indication that reflects on the causes (which are always the beliefs and NOT the situation!), one can know, if their are bad effects, that there is some belief that is dysfunctional and untrue.  The indication of such a belief is that one "feels bad emotionally".  One does not feel bad emotionally if one has true, realistic, functional beliefs.  (To further understand this, you could read how we are the sole creators of our own suffering and struggle.)
As in Completing The Past, one cannot hold onto, in any form, any story about the past nor any attribution of cause to anything else or anyone else.  (See that example if you've not yet read it.)

THERE IS NOTHING TO HOLD ON TO

From Who I Am:  "I am as I am.  If I want to get more of what I want, then I'll need to be on a trip of discovery and install more empowering beliefs."  "I am not my stories as I am he/she who made them up, so there is nothing to defend and nothing to hold onto - there is only the choice to create what works to achieve that which I desire.

I am simply what I choose and say I am in the moment.  I create that way of being and it is not fixed.  It is gone in a moment and replaced by what I am in the next moment.  I am no particular way.  I am just the creator of it all, choosing what and who to be in the moment.

THE REQUIRED BASIC PROCESS FOR ANY RESULTS

The process (see the worksheets suggested below) that must be gone through to get to any result is:

1.  Acknowledge what is going on and how it feels.
2.  Decide if the desired result is worth more than the cost.
3.  Commit, in writing, to complete what is needed.
4.  Determine what's next, plan what is needed to get the desired results.  Includes
learning and knowledge that will be needed, either learned by you or by a
    resource.
5.  Do the actions
6.  Observe the results
7.  Modify actions as needed (go back to whatever step is the problem and go
through from that step through to the end)

Note that this process is best done in writing, as effectiveness virtually disappears without it.

FIRST, REVIEW

First, review the Breakdowns And Breakthroughs page, as this is what you are actually dealing with: not getting what you intended and what to do to breakthrough to getting it.

SET UP FOR THE PROCESS

It would be best to set up a notebook to keep everything organized in.

IDENTIFY WHAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED

Listing those key things that are not serving you well and then prioritizing them, all in writing, gives you your raw material on what to attack and transform.   Get a piece of blank paper, put a title on it, and start listing what comes to mind that you would like to change and/or what is "feeling bad" to you.

Usually your top priority is what you want to address first.  Then you come back and do the second priority, and so on, until you get enough results to be having a great life, where you are almost never "feeling bad".

CLEARLY IDENTIFY WHAT THE PAYOFFS ARE

Write down your intended result and what the payoffs are to you.  If they are worth the cost of your effort, you proceed.

You will find a "goal" form that will be suitable in the Planning section.  Since we are almost certainly talking about a gap in what you want and what you have and the fact that you're not causing what you want, you'll probably want to use the   form for Breakdowns:  Breakdown/Breakthrough Form Simpler Version or the Completion Version (see Example Of Its Use).  Each of these include a place to make your commitment.  Either commit or stop; failure is not an option this time around!

These, and more, forms are available in the Problem Solving Section.  (Long term, to be effective in life, you should learn the skill of problem solving and to use the forms in order to systematically create solutions.)

USE THESE TO "COMPLETE"

For beliefs, you can use the regular forms above, as they include a space for revising the beliefs.  If you're addressing a core belief, such as "I'm not good enough", use the search engine to find out what has already been written or devised relative to that, then complete the re-writing of the beliefs to a wording that works for you.  (If you're doing this process to completion, you'll find that you'll have a number of revisions once you start practicing and affirming the new beliefs.)

You'll want to read and understand and follow the Dealing With And Changing Beliefs section.

CERTIFICATION OF COMPLETION

If you provide me with sufficient proof (your worksheets and your new beliefs), then I'll send you a Certification Of Completion Of The Healthy Thinking Process.  "This Certificate Of Completion is to acknowledge and provide evidence for meritorious work and commitment toward achieving an extraordinary level of healthy thinking.  The person receiving this is equipped to serve themselves and others, including employers, in an extraordinarily competent, clear thinking, high integrity manner."
