LEARN THESE! ELIMINATE THEM!
1. Learn what causes unhappiness, especially the beliefs that do so.
a. At least establish that there is authority and sufficient substance to the wisdom
that says these are the causes.
2. Eliminate and correct those beliefs and practices
Pretty simple.
Until you correct these, you cannot experience much happiness - you will be stuck at least at a level of happiness that is way too low and a level of unhappiness that is way too high!
Now, to get the perspective on what those beliefs are (so you can eliminate and correct them):
THE BELIEFS THAT CREATE UNHAPPINESS, GUARANTEED
__ What our minds make up or record is real. (Until we learn that thoughts are not real or necessarily factual, we cannot progress.)
__ Circumstances and/or people cause our emotions. (Utter rubbish! This leaves us dependent on something we cannot control.)
__ Unhappiness/suffering has a useful purpose (to motivate us to get better and that nothing else will accomplish that).
ourselves/them to do what we want. (Relates to shame, guilt, punishment,
etc.)
__ The overall concept of fault, right/wrong, good/bad/evil, worthy/notworthy in the judgmental sense. (This is nonsense, yet we run our lives based on it.)
The belief that I (and/or others) should know better and do better.
The (illusionary) belief that I am "permanent" in the way I am and that I am a product of my past and my past failures, especially those failures to change.
The belief that reality should be different/better, including oneself, others, and circumstances/world.
The belief that you are in danger and unsafe - the fictional, unreal fears.
The belief that you are not responsible and/or that you are not capable enough to
get what you want. (Or that you cannot develop the self-efficacy.)
THE ACTIONS AND PRACTICES THAT CAUSE UNHAPPINESS
Excessive inputs of negatives. (This is done because of false beliefs that they serve a useful purpose.)
From self, others around you, outside sources (TV, etc.)
Anything that negatively affects your well-being: junk food, lack of exercise, lack of sleep/rest/relaxation, lack of knowledge about how the body and mind works
