Looking back, he shakes his head at what he had believed about how the world worked and about himself. The models and beliefs he saw, and then copied, produced inappropriate anger, low self-esteem, great anxiety, an excessive drive to achieve, a "neediness" for approval/validation/love - a lot of "wasted" life. Of course, he needed to learn by making some mistakes, but he learned much quicker through the guidance of "Mr. P", who was often called "the practical philosopher", for all he taught was designed to get actual results and no "pie in the sky." Occasionally, "Ms. R" pops onto the scene, a woman Kevin was fortunate enough to run into.
This is a real story, one that we all could live into. It actually, from the outside looking in, appeared to be a pretty good life, but Kevin's experience of the less aware part of his life was not a happy one. We're all, if we really look at it, living a "pretty good" life, although we most often fail to see that through the distorted lenses of non-optimal beliefs and missing knowledge.
His journey has arrived at happiness, but the vehicle to attaining that was "wisdom" - the knowledge of what actually works in life.
About his story
The story is broken into a sequence that covers the lessons, which also occur somewhat chronologically, since "lessons learned" tend to build onto each other. Often, the "next lesson" cannot be learned until the underlying parts of the immediately preceding lesson are fully into place.
Each piece is constructed to briefly cover the mistake and/or the lesson, but there are always solutions added and opportunities to go to the next step of learning and insights, to the extent you choose. It's a "multi-layered" opportunity for learning and understanding, where you can choose the layer, or depth, to go to.
Enjoy.
May you learn and then experience the happy, fulfilled life that is so very, very reachable!
